Hartlepool's Vestra Star of the Month for September 2025

At Vestra Homecare, we see every day how care can change lives.

One gentleman who suffers with Autism, used to spend most of his time in the pub, which wasn’t good for his health or wellbeing. Since Tracy began supporting him, with her encouragement, his life has taken a new direction. She’s helped him to get a fresh haircut, update his wardrobe, and rediscover new interests. Today, they enjoy trips to museums, walks in the park, and coffee shop catchups. Experiences that have completely transformed his day-to-day life.

We want to say a huge thank you to Tracy for showing how care isn’t just a job — it’s about making real differences in people’s lives.

Through patience, kindness, and trust, Denise has built a wonderful bond, supporting her with personal care, encouraging family communication, and helping her make incredible progress.

At Vestra Homecare, we know that care isn’t one-size-fits-all, it’s often the bespoke, thoughtful touches, even small ones, that make the biggest difference.

Recently, a family reached out for support with their loved one, whose hair had become tangled and difficult to manage. Vicki didn’t just help, she went above and beyond.

She arranged for a hairdresser to visit, creating a calm, trusting environment. Together, they washed, cut, and styled her hair, leaving her feeling confident, happy, and cared for.

People often use the phrase ‘above and beyond,’ but Annette really does live by this every day. Nothing is ever too much trouble for her. She regularly goes beyond what is required to ensure the comfort, safety, and wellbeing of the people she supports — whether it’s driving across town to pick up medication or taking extra time to support a service user to shower at their own pace.

Jeanette is a care worker we regularly receive glowing feedback about. One husband shared that he feels safe going to work knowing Jeanette will be visiting his wife, a testament to the reassurance and trust she builds every day.

While Jeanette consistently makes a difference in the lives of the people she supports, one recent story really highlights her compassion and dedication. Just over a year ago, she began supporting a young man with autism who had recently moved into his own accommodation. Gradually, Jeanette has helped him develop his life skills, from cleaning to doing his own shopping, supporting him to live a more independent life – a wonderful achievement.

Hartlepool’s Care Worker of the Month - December 2025

We’re proud to celebrate Mariana, one of our unsung heroes who quietly goes above and beyond working every weekend shift.

Mariana supports a couple, and when the husband recently had a short stay in hospital, she continued to support his wife, providing reassurance and care during a challenging time. The wife was so grateful that she gave Mariana a bunch of flowers, saying she would have been lost without her support.

Your thoughtful support and quiet dedication have made a real difference for this family, and we’re delighted to recognise you as Hartlepool’s Care Worker of the Month for December.

Stacey

Stacey has transformed someone’s life in the most heartwarming and thoughtful way.

We recently began supporting a gentleman who can struggle with self-neglect. Stacey took it upon herself to make his home comfortable and welcoming for the festive season. She even organised a social media post asking for donations of household items to bring him comfort at Christmas.

With just eight days to go before Christmas, Stacey made it happen, she got curtains, put up a curtain pole, and delivered a Christmas hamper. But she didn’t stop there. With support from the office, Stacey also arranged further cleaning sessions to ensure he had a tidy and inviting home environment.

Stacey, your kindness has made a real difference. Thank you!
