Sunderland’s Vestra Star of the Month - August 2026
This month, we have two Vestra Stars in Sunderland – two people whose actions were so special, we simply couldn’t choose between them!
First up, Sophie.
A lady Sophie supports became upset when there was a delay with her medication delivery and was worried that she would miss her medication.
Sophie took the time to reassure her and, when the pharmacy had closed for the day, contacted 111 for advice. Knowing how worried and distressed the lady was, Sophie stayed with her while waiting for a call back.
Sophie gave her own time to help the lady feel supported and reassured while waiting for further advice. When Sophie’s phone battery began to run low, she even went home to collect her charger so she wouldn’t miss the return call – then hurried back to continue sitting with and reassuring the lady.
It was a simple act of kindness that meant a great deal to someone who needed a little extra reassurance.
